SuperSmart TV Rolls Out Major Feature Enhancements for 2025 – A New Era of Streaming Innovation

SuperSmart TV continues its mission to revolutionise global TV streaming with a powerful series of updates in 2025, enhancing both viewer experience and broadcaster engagement. Our latest release introduces new features that blend flexibility, intelligence, and accessibility — taking live and on-demand entertainment to new heights.

1. Launch of Open On Demand

We’re thrilled to announce Open On Demand — a fully integrated video-on-demand experience. This new feature enables users to pause, seek, resume playback from where they last left off, or start the video from the beginning. Open On Demand transforms SuperSmart TV into a true hybrid platform where viewers can now access box sets, archived series, documentaries, and more — on their own schedule.

2. Renaming Open TV to Open Live

To make navigation simpler and more intuitive, we’ve renamed Open TV to Open Live. This update clearly distinguishes between real-time live TV and on-demand content. Open Live continues to provide seamless access to over 6,000 live TV stations worldwide — across 150 countries — now with better categorisation for viewers to discover content in their preferred language and region.

3. Seamless Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Playback

Our new Picture-in-Picture mode is a multitasker’s dream — allowing users to preview or continue watching streams in a small, movable window while navigating other app features. Whether you’re exploring other channels or checking the news, your stream remains uninterrupted, delivering a consistent and high-performance experience.

4. Pause Live TV

Live just got more flexible. You can now pause live broadcasts, depending on the broadcaster’s stream criteria. Whether you’re stepping away for a moment or rewinding for context, this feature adds a layer of convenience to your live viewing experience that’s typically only found in premium-tier television services.

5. Intelligent Channel Descriptions Powered by Wikipedia

We’re dynamically integrating channel title recognition with content from Wikipedia, so users can instantly see who owns or operates a given channel. This feature is enabled by default and can be switched off in the Settings panel. We also prompt broadcasters to maintain up-to-date listings on Wikipedia to help us bring richer content to our viewers.

This feature will be the foundation of an upcoming “What’s On Now” feature, aimed at entertainment and movie categories — making real-time content discovery even smarter.

Committed to Global Accessibility

Our subtitle readout feature is now available to all users. You can now hear subtitles read aloud in a variety of voices — with the option to translate them into over 50 languages for Premium users. Try this out on the Spanish channel TVE 24 Horas, which helped us refine our translation and caption technology. Select English subtitles and have them read aloud in your preferred accent — ideal for those with visual impairments or multilingual households.

The Bigger Vision: Powered by AI

SuperSmart TV is now a recognised world leader in broadcast channel management, and with our inbuilt AI enhancements, expect even more mind-blowing innovations. From automatically matching content to dynamic metadata to streamlining broadcaster engagement and global viewer reach — we are just getting started.

We continue to support the global broadcast community with new tools, better accessibility, and an unrelenting commitment to innovation. Join us as we reshape the future of streaming — one channel, one update, one breakthrough at a time.
